I, THE SONG | Bhutan, Norway, Italy, France | 2024 | 112’

Synopsis

Nima, a teacher in Bhutan’s capital, is accused of appearing in a non-consensual pornographic video. To prove her innocence, she travels south in search of her lookalike, Meto, who is said to have left Bhutan. Unconvinced, Nima uncovers fragments of Meto’s life through friends, lovers, and family. As Nima’s anger turns to concern, she realizes she must solve Meto’s disappearance and recover a sacred song “stolen” by city people. I, THE SONG explores exploitation, identity, love, and tradition in a digital age.
